Chris Brown recently invited MTV to a listening session of his sixth album, where he shared a few details about the forthcoming project. The singer announced the title of his record — X — and said it will channel pop and R&B greats like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Sam Cooke. He added that, on this new album, he wants to “have the same mentality as I did with the first album.”
Breezy also revealed two particularly exciting collaborations on X. The “instantly infectious heartbreak” first single, “Fine China,” is written by Diplo, who also produces the “pop”-sounding title track, while MTV’s Hottest MC in the Game Kendrick Lamar guests on a song called “Autumn Leaves.” Says Chris of the track:
If you’re in your car just riding, it’s perfect. It just feels like a weather record — an emotional record,” he said of the slowed-down selection with a bass line that sounds like a heartbeat. “I feel a certain way when I hear it.”
UPDATE: Hear Chris Brown discuss his new approach to life, being “eternally grateful” for Rihanna’s forgiveness and the recent valet incident after the jump…
In a new interview with Ryan Seacrest, Chris Brown touched on pressing issues outside of music. He said he wants to take responsibility and to “mature in this life under the public eye,” spoke on his efforts to show Rihanna how remorseful he was and how he is “eternally grateful” for her forgiveness, and elaborated on the recent valet incident:
Okay so I can elaborate on the situation. By all means, I’m a great tipper. Ten dollars is not a problem… [it] was five dollar parking at the place… but before we went in, I gave the man $100 dollars. We had two cars. It’s five dollar parking. Okay, do the math. So when we came out he was like, ‘You know what? We need $20 for each car.’ And I said, ‘Sir, I just gave you $100.’ So he was like, ‘No, no we need $10.’ So he was just going around trying to see if he could get more money and I was like, ‘no,’ so by that time it was a situation
