F*ck Interns! (Craigslist and Employers Eat a D*ck)

I am soooo sick of seeing job postings like this… and this UGH! and worst of all sh*t like THIS
… if you are going to ask someone to do design work and do design projects that MOST seasoned designers cannot, DON'T throw the word "intern" in the mix and think "Oh that's okay" NO! pay someone to do the damn work. Majority of these people are looking for free labor and then will throw the individual aside like oh we helped him/her build a portfolio to get a job, and feel great about themselves afterwards.

To add insult to injury these people are usually "PAID" and have the money to spare but are being cheap. But of course, some people are gonna say, "you're crazy, people need internships to gain experience, people need real life experience in order to know what they are doing." TRUE but people also have bills to pay and that same job you're doing for free a REAL designer would do for no less than $19 an hour. Think about that the next time you decide to do something for free, just think about "how much money you gave up" to be…helpful to someone who doesn't care that you ate Wise potato chips and water for dinner last night, In your 3 room apartment that you share with an overweight roommate who's always late on his car payment and smells of booze.

Labor should never be free, time should never be free, and ART although is expression of self to another shouldn't be free either. it is up to you if you decide to take the leap into the Infinite Loop of free labor and fall down the rabbit holes of "Interns" and "I'll do it for free". its a never ending path and you will find yourself looking back at someone Else's benefit and your work and asking yourself what did you get out of it?

Bottomline… point blank with three periods… F*ck all these people taking advantage of the people who worked hard or were born with the talent to do things that others can't. I'm not saying its a TERRIBLE thing to do a favor for someone "sometimes" but making a habit out of it you might as well pack up your bags and throw them in a dumpster because the term "Starving Artist" comes from "nice" people doing favors and helping uncreative people reach their goals while exploiting yours.

PS: The word INTERN implies you will teach the individual something not slave them… just my two cents.
