A$AP Ferg’s Trap Lord debut album is officially in-stores and online today. Ferg and the A$AP Mob celebrated the release by taking over the Hot 97 airwaves on Monday night, catching up with Funkmaster Flex. A$AP Rocky, Ferg, Nast, Twelvy, and the rest of the crew got right to business as they gave their thoughts on Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control.” Rocky explains to Flex that hip-hop needs a moment like this, and Kendrick along with the TDE crew are family.
Members of the Harlem clique mention Papoose, Joell Ortiz, Lupe Fiasco, and B.o.B as some of their favorite responses so far. In the 27-minute conversation they also discuss the current state of hip-hop, and the always regular topic of why New York-rap doesn’t get the support it once did. After their in-depth talk, A$AP Mob’s Rocky, Ferg, Nast, Twelvy, and Ant got back to lyrics with a 16-min freestyle over DJ Khaled’s “Grammmy Family” and Biggie’s “Who Shot Ya?.”
